Food was good but service was bad. Wait staff had some kind of attitude going on. They messed up our order and then denied it. It took forever to get our food even though we were one of the first tables to order. It was also expensive too for the amount of food given. Disappointed.

Good sushi and friendly service. We like to sit at the sushi bar. I've enjoyed everything I ordered so far.

I've only been once since the new owners took over, and I was kind of disappointed. The prices are definitely better now. Service was just okay. The girl was obviously still training though, and I know how that is, so I don't hold that against them. My problem was that the tuna was soooo fishy, it just didn't taste fresh. Everything else was good, even the chicken teriyaki, which I'm normally not crazy about. I'll definitely be coming back to give them another chance because everyone I talk to raves about how great it is with the new owners.

Since Gina left A-RU hasn't been the same. first time I went there under new management I wasn't all that impressed. the menu has changed and we miss our favorites.

Lovely sushi restaurant! Great vegetarian options that are really tasty. The staff are very nice too.

Excellent sushi and friendly staff! I recommend the lobster roll, they do NOT mess around with the lobster. You can barley see the sushi it’s covered so much!!

Quality at its finest, best sushi, and iv been to alot of places. The owner is amazing and only works with the best ingredients. A-RU is a very elegant peaceful place,I love eating here.

The fish is SO fresh! This is the only sushi restaurant in the valley that goes to the fish markets in LA twice a week. Hands down the most amazing uni shooters with ponzo I have ever had. Would highly recommend, quality of food is well worth the price.

Open until 9pm. Called to see if they had dine-in, was told yes. Arrived at 8pm. Told that we couldn't sit because they closed at 9. I've worked for restaurants - You never tell patrons no an hour before. Especially after calling and asking. Guess you didn't need the business, but judging by your empty parking lot this happens often.

Good Japanese food. The menu selection might not cater to everyone, this is mostly a sushi place. Everything we had was prepared very well.

Excellent! Every roll was superb. The yuzu citrus liqueur was amazing. Very good service and ambiance too.

Food was average, but they were very rude. They shorted my to go order by $20 worth of food and when I got home and called they said they were to busy could I call back tomorrow. I asked if they could call me back they said sure and hung up the phone. Didn’t answer when I called back. I’ve been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, you might consider skipping this one.

Fabulous! On par with any sushi restaurant in Santa Barbara or even los Angeles. Been coming here for over 10years. They do amazing work. Amazing food and service.

Wow this place is a good spot. Everything we had was good. Small busy place, mostly take out I think. Plenty of tables.

I started going to this place when they first opened with the original owner. I could get 4 rolls for $30 and today I went there and spent $30 for only 2 rolls. When the original owner was there I had my usual order and now I can’t even get that. I miss the original owner and the original people that worked there.

Best sushi in the valley. Hope they will up their sake game to match the quality of fish

Ramen is instant noodle which is disappointing. My friend's order has never been severed. Such a bad experience.

Excellent food and service!

Good food but WAY OVER PRICED! I could have gotten double the amount of rolls somewhere else. My seaweed salad was small and half of it sat on a small bed of lettuce. I won't be going back.

Wow! Awesome food and wonderful staff. Tiger, my chef, surprised me with a beautiful dish of rainbow sashimi. He made my day.

Some of the best sushi I have had, compares with the sushi we had at the MGM in Las Vegas. Fish is always fresh and the is a wonderful selection of rolls and a wine list that is better than most of the restaurants in the Santa Ynez valley.

First of all I have no clue how someone can rate A Ru one star based solely on price... It's worth every penny. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Everything Chef Gina makes is phenomenal! The staff is great, the sushi is the best I've had and everything about the place is great. The shrimp crunchy roll is our favorite and reasonably priced at $9.00 I believe. This is our go to spot almost every Friday night because it's great!

Best sushi in Santa Barbara County. Gina and David are wonderful.

We had such a wonderful dinner. Yellow tail belly, salmon belly, big eye and uni! Udon with tempura and baked A-Ru roll. Seaweed salad and a special salad. It was delicious!!! The service is amazing!!! So happy it's only a 10 minute walk from home. Especially after ichibon beer and sake! Thank you for such a wonderful all around experience!

Food portions are very small. Quality ok. Very limited menu. Way too expensive. If they were located in a large city they would fail. They must not get too much return local business.

Really good food, and sweet waitress. Would eat here again. I had teriyaki beef and my family had sushi. All was enjoyed.
